Dober dan! Zdravo!

Welcome to our Rick Steves Best of the Adriatic in 14 Days Tour!

Intro Page1.jpg

My name is Laura, and this is my mom, Beth. Together, we have been on six Rick Steves tours!

For a while, however, it felt like our trip to the Adriatic might not happen . . . we were originally scheduled to go in April 2020, but a little global pandemic got in the way. Flash forward to October 2022, and I woke up on the morning of our flight with a terrible case of food poisoning.

We feared we might not make it, but after wrangling with the airlines, we found a new flight to get us to Ljubljana just in time (we landed a few hours before our orientation meeting!)

We cut it close, but I'm so glad we got there. I adored our time in Slovenia, Bosnia, and Croatia, and I can't wait to share it with you!

Why the Adriatic?

Why not?!

In all honestly, I didn't have a ton of specific reasons for going--I just knew that many friends had raved about their time in Croatia, and that the Adriatic was a region of Europe I had yet to explore. These seemed like good enough reasons for me!

I was also excited to explore the local cuisine (and wines!), to soak up the beautiful scenery, and to learn more about the region's complicated history.

The good news: we got to do all of these things (and so much more) during our 14 days in the Adriatic.

Using This Website

Each day of our tour has its own page. Use the menu at the top of the page, or the arrows at the bottom, to navigate from day to day.

On each day's page, the story of our day--what we saw, what we ate, and how we felt about it all--can be found in the righthand column.

In the lefthand column, you'll find the following features:

  1. Day at a Glance: A snapshot of the major activities we did that day.

  2. Wow Moment: It wouldn't be a Rick Steves tour without many "wow moments"; these were my very favorite moments from each day.

  3. Foodie Find: I pride myself on being a foodie--and these were the best things I ate on tour.

  4. Top Tip: Each day, I've included my best tip--some of them admittedly a bit cheeky--for helping you get the most out of your trip.

  5. Fun Fact: Here, I'll share a few interesting facts I learned throughout our trip!

Why Rick Steves?

As I mentioned above, this was our sixth tour with Rick Steves. So why do we keep going back?

It's a breeze. I love traveling, but sometimes trip planning can be wildly stressful. When I join a Rick Steves tour, I know I can sit back and relax--they'll take care of all the details. â€‹

Great people. Your fellow tour members will be friendly and fun!

Great guides. Whether it was Sašo, our fearless leader, or the many local guides we met along the way, we were led through the Adriatic by the best of the best.

Wow moments. When you're on a Rick Steves tour, you can feel confident you'll have a ton of great experiences--they make sure you never miss the most important sights, plus they introduce you to lots of magical little extras you might not have found on your own!

Bottom line: I've traveled with a few different companies, but Rick Steves tours are the best by far. You'll have a blast!
